FILM - FAUST

Film – Faust by Fran Borgia

Inspired by Faust: der Tragodie erster Teil by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

With K Rajagopal as Faust

K, a young and arrogant film director, after contracting a degenerative disease, forms a pact with the Devil to grant him 33 years of brilliance and success as a filmmaker. He produces works of increasing perfection to world acclaim, even while physical illness begins to attack his body. On the last day of filming for his latest work (an adaptation of Goethe's Faust), he confesses the pact he made, as it comes to an end.

Filmmaker Fran Borgia's first foray into theatre was in 2007 when he co-directed with Ho Tzu Nyen King Lear – The Avoidance of Love as part of Sparks, Esplanade's Creative Development Programme. The critically-acclaimed, extended three-parts version, The King Lear Project was presented at the Kunsten Festival des Arts (Brussels) and the Singapore Arts Festival.

Film – Faust features K Rajagopal as Faust / Mephistopheles. He has worked on stage, film and television for over 20 years and has collaborated with many notable Singaporean theatre directors. After an 11-year hiatus, he returned to the stage as King Lear in The King Lear Project.
